Why is this Seforim website different from all other websites?
This site specializes in classic Jewish literature (Seforim) in Hebrew published in Israel but is user friendly to English speakers. Great efforts are made to describe the Sefer as accurately, as fully and yet as concisely as possible so you will know what you are buying. Each book is accompanied with 3-8 pictures so you can look inside and read what you are buying. A large percentage of these Seforim are privately published by Rabbis and Torah scholars and are not sold in any Jewish bookstores. Information about new titles is gathered from a wide variety of sources and includes many excellent small editions not described elsewhere.
Who are we?
VirtualGeula is a project of the Judaica Archival Project, a not-for-profit institute preservation and access project located in Jerualem Israel. From 1986-1995 JAP preserved half a million pages from rare and acifidied titles in Rabbinics at JNUL, the Hebrew University Library. Since 1997 JAP has been providing bibliographic services and access (Jewish Publisher's Showcase) to Sifrei Kodesh on www.virtualgeula.com
How does it work?
We do not have a bookstore, warehouse or business. Our online catalog fully describes new and reprinted Seforim as they appear, including information about where the book was last sold and at what price. Books can be purchased online with a credit card in a secure transaction at competitive Israeli retail prices. When you place your order we may contact the seller, place your order and instruct him to ship it to our address or drop-ship it directly to you. Next we email you an invoice with confirmation of availability, price, any additional pick-up charges* and delivery date. After 24 hours we charge your credit-card and immediately send you the Sefer by the shipper of your choice. Finally we email you a notice that your Seforim are on their way with an online postal (Doar) tracking number. Books which were printed more than three years ago may be out of print. If a book is out-of-print we may be able to offer you a .pdf or facsimile copy or a used copy from a book dealer.
Pricing
* Many of these Seforim are privately published and sold from homes. If the author will deliver to us or drop-ship to you, these Seforim will be sold at the base price. If the Sefer is not available in Geula stores or the author does not deliver, pickup charges will apply. Currency: The default currency for all credit card charges will be Israel Shekels. Daily exchange rates can be viewed at the website of the Bank Of Israel. If for any reason you prefer to be charged in US dollars or if find your bank has applied expensive surcharges for Shekel purchases please inform us so we can submit future charges in US $.
Before you order
Since we deal with many suppliers, each of which ships directly to you, bear in mind that a single order of books from different catalogs may arrive in several packages. If you request that we collate all your orders into one package there may be a separate pickup charge for each supplier. If your order involves obtaining books from several distributors: We will hold your order for 14 days and then forward what is ready. The other books which are delayed will be sent separately when they arrive at our office. Your credit card may be charged twice: Once when your order is ready and a few days later for shipping costs.
